Starting Dose

The starting dose of Novex is 0.25 mg injected subcutaneously once weekly. This starting dose is intended to reduce gastrointestinal symptoms during initial dose escalation and is not effective for glycemic control.

Dose Escalation Schedule

  • Weeks 1-4:0.25 mg once weekly
  • Weeks 5-8:0.5 mg once weekly
  • Weeks 9-12:1.0 mg once weekly
  • Week 13+:1.5 mg or 2.0 mg once weekly

Your healthcare provider may adjust your dose based on your individual response and tolerability. The maximum recommended dose is 2.0 mg once weekly.

Key Points About Dosing

  • Same Day Each Week

    Inject Novex on the same day each week, at any time of day.

  • With or Without Food

    Novex can be taken with or without food.

  • Injection Sites

    Inject in abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Rotate sites.

How to Use the Novex Pen

Prepare

Wash your hands. Remove pen cap and attach a new needle. Remove both needle caps.

Check Flow

Turn dose selector to flow check symbol. Press and hold dose button until 0 mg shows.

Select Dose

Turn dose selector until your prescribed dose appears in the dose window.

Inject

Insert needle, press dose button, hold for 10 seconds, then remove needle.

What if I Miss a Dose?

Important

If you miss a dose of Novex, take it as soon as you remember if it has been 5 days or less since your missed dose.

If 5 days or less since missed dose:

Take the missed dose as soon as possible. Then take your next dose on your regular scheduled day. You may change your dosing day as long as doses are at least 3 days apart.

If more than 5 days since missed dose:

Skip the missed dose and take your next dose on your regularly scheduled day. Do not take two doses to make up for a missed dose.

Storage Instructions

Before First Use

  • Store in refrigerator at 36F to 46F (2C to 8C)
  • Do not freeze - discard if frozen
  • Keep in original carton to protect from light
  • Good until expiration date on carton

After First Use

  • Store at room temperature up to 86F (30C) OR refrigerated
  • Use within 56 days after first use
  • Do not store with needle attached
  • Keep pen cap on when not in use
